Helping to Improve Our School
Jacksonville Country Day School is unique because tuition and fees cover all operational costs. So the school is very fortunate that all fundraising income can be used for special projects and to improve programming.
Generous gifts from parents, grandparents, administrators, faculty, staff, Trustees, alumni, parents of alumni, and friends support the Annual Giving Campaign and programs sponsored by the Parents' Association. These donations have been used to fund many school-wide projects, including the addition of updated technology in each classroom, and renovations to the library, science lab, locker rooms, gymnasium, playground, athletic field, new lighting and sound equipment in the Fine Arts Center auditorium, and a new Aquatics Center in 2009.
How to Support JCDS
Annual Fund
The Annual Fund is the cornerstone of our yearly fundraising efforts at JCDS. The program starts early in the fall and continues until December 31st with pledge payments due by June 30th of the following year. Proceeds are used for special campus-wide projects, faculty enrichment through continuing education, and support of the school's endowment.
Parents are asked to give special consideration to the various levels of giving and respond generously. The main goal is 100% participation by JCDS families. This achievement is critical in obtaining matching funds from corporations and foundations. These organizations regard parental support percentages as a benchmark for their own gifts. Gala Evening
This "special theme" event is held in the spring and is sponsored by the Parents' Association. Volunteers prepare all year for an exciting evening that features a catered dinner, live music, dancing, and live and silent auctions featuring donations from the students, JCDS families and the Jacksonville community.
Paver Program
Beautiful 8" pavers are available for purchase to honor or remember a family member, current student, a graduating 6th grader or alumni. The pavers are located around the base of the flagpole and are available for purchase throughout the year in the main office.
Book and Engineering Fair
The school year ends with a book fair where parents and students can purchase great books for pleasure reading and summer requirements. As a special treat, guest authors, illustrators and readers are invited. The highlight of the fair is the display of the written and artistic work created by JCDS students.
The engineering fair is held in conjunction with the book fair. Engineering projects are assigned by grade level and are completely planned and executed by the students. Completed projects are displayed for the enjoyment of parents and other students.
