President: Daniel S. Yip, M.D.

Committee: Executive
Dr. Daniel Yip joined the board in 2004 and serves as president. He was born and raised in southern California and moved to Jacksonville in 2001 from St. Louis to be Director of Heart Failure and Transplantation at Mayo Clinic. He has two JCDS children, Stephen (Class of 2003) and Catherine (Class of 2008).

Vice President: Ron Price

Committees: Executive and Finance
Ron Price joined the board in 2005, serves as the Vice President of the board, and is a member of the Finance Committee. He is an Executive Vice President and the Chief Financial Officer of the PGA TOUR. Ron is a Certified Public Accountant and prior to joining the PGA TOUR, he was a partner with Ernst & Young. Ron is married to Cindy, and they have two children who attended and graduated from JCDS – in the class of 2007 and class of 2009.

Treasurer: David Kight

Committees: Executive and Finance (Chair)
David Kight joined the board in 2003. He graduated from JCDS in 1981 and went on to receive a Finance degree from the University of Florida. He serves on the Finance Committee. He is the Chief Operating Officer for Akida Holdings LLC. He and his wife, Katie, have two daughters, a 6th grader and a 3rd grader.

Secretary: Irene Wolfe Cywes

Committees: Executive, Compensation & Benefits
Irene Wolfe Cywes joined the board in 2009. She currently serves on the Compensation and Benefits Committee and as Secretary on the Board’s Executive Committee as of the 2010 term. Irene was born and raised in Canada and is married to Robert Cywes who is from South Africa. They have twins, who are in fourth grade at JCDS. Irene attended McGill University in Canada and the University of Michigan for law. She and her family love to travel and together have visited almost every continent. She is a voracious reader and enjoys playing tennis.

Member at Large: Michael Abel, Esq.

Committees: Executive and Development
Mike Abel joined the board in 2005 and currently serves on the Development Committee. Mike is a partner in the law firm of Holland & Knight LLP and is a trial lawyer practicing in the area of business and commercial litigation. Mike and his wife Jill, a Junior Kindergarten teacher at JCDS, have two children, both graduates of JCDS, who are currently attending the Bolles School.

Member at Large: Richard Anderson

Committees: Executive, Compensation and Benefits
Rick Anderson joined the Board in 2007 and is currently serving on the Committee on Trustees and Chairing the Compensation and Benefits Committee. Rick is the Executive Vice President - Television for the PGA TOUR. He resides in Ponte Vedra Beach with his wife, Kim, and their two children; who are rising members of the 3rd and 1st grade classes at JCDS.

Member at Large: Deborah Broder

Committee: Development
Deborah Broder joined the board in 2006. She is the Director of Development for The Cummer Museum of Art & Gardens. She also serves on the board of the Community Music School, and on the Marketing Committee of the Jacksonville Symphony Association. Prior to her move to the non-profit arts sector, her professional career was concentrated in advertising and marketing, including her position as Vice President, Management Supervisor at W. B. Donor Advertising in Detroit, Michigan. She has a BFA and MBA from Southern Methodist University. Deborah and her husband Bruce have one son, Owen, who is a graduate of JCDS, and is currently a senior in high school at The North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, NC.

Member at Large: Dave Brown

Committee: Marketing
Dave Brown joined the board in 2009. Dave has two daughters – one who completed 6th grade at JCDS after moving to Florida and is now enrolled at Bolles, and a current sixth grader at JCDS. Dave is President, Americas Region for Johnson & Johnson Vision Care, Inc., the maker of ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses. Dave, his wife Christine and two daughters have lived in Ponte Vedra Beach since 2006. Dave also serves as a Board of Trustee of United Way of Northeast Florida.

Member at Large: Rick Friedman

Committee: Finance
Rick Friedman joined the board in 2008, and is currently serving on the Finance Committee. He holds a bachelors degree in finance as well as an MBA from the University of Florida. He is President of Victoria National Golf Club and Victoria Development Company, both located in Newburgh, Indiana. Rick also serves on the board of directors of Haven Trust Bank of Florida. He enjoys golf, fitness, travel, and especially spending time with his family. Rick and his wife, Beverly, have one child, who will be a fourth-grader at JCDS in the 2010-2011 school year.

Member at Large: Lynn Geric

Committee: Finance
Lynn Geric joined the board in 2007 and is currently serving on the Finance Committee. She graduated from the University of Florida with her Masters in Accounting. Lynn is originally from Plantation, Florida and has two children. Since moving to Jacksonville she has enjoyed volunteering for JCDS and other charities, reading, running, and especially spending time with her family.

Member at Large: Reid Gray

Committee: Development
Reid Gray has been a board member since 2009 and is the father of a 1st grader and a 4th grader at JCDS. Reid serves on the Development Committee with a focus on strategic planning and fund raising. Other volunteer efforts with JCDS have included serving as a member of the Capital Campaign committee. By profession, Reid serves as the CEO for Advanced Homecare, a regional home health Agency. Reid has also served as an early childhood educator (5th Grade) in the Hillsborough county school system. Reid graduated from the University of South Florida with a degree in early childhood education and a minor in business administration. Outside of school, he enjoys golf, traveling with family, and coaching his daughter’s soccer teams.

Julie McQuiddy began her service on the Board of Trustees in 2007 and currently sits on the Committee on Trustees. Ms. McQuiddy attended the University of Florida and the University of North Florida where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Statistics and a Master of Business Administration. After working in public accounting for ten years, Julie left the corporate world to be at home with her children. Julie and her husband Dean have three children. In addition to spending time with her family, Julie is an active member of her church and donates a considerable amount of her time to charities throughout Northeast Florida.

Bingham Parkinson began serving on the board in 2006. He is the CEO of BMEL Business Solutions, LLC. His wife, Miriam serves on the parents’ association board and volunteers as a PEP parent at JCDS. He presently has a daughter enrolled in the 6th grade and a daughter who graduated from JCDS in 1998.

Member at Large: Mary Pentel, M.D.

Committee: Marketing
Mary Pentel, MD, joined the JCDS board in 2009 and serves on the Marketing Committee. She is a physician owner of Southside Dermatology. She is also active as President of the Jacksonville Asian American Alliance and enjoys mentoring girls interested in the field of medicine. Her youngest daughter is a fourth grader at JCDS and her oldest daughter graduated from JCDS in 2008. Mary enjoys community service, reading, traveling, spending time with her family and an occasional shopping trip.

Pat Sams joined the board in 2007, and currently serves on the Marketing Committee. In 2006, after a successful 23-year career with State Farm Insurance Company, primarily in Human Resources, Pat left corporate America in order to spend more time with her two sons who attend JCDS; a 6th grader and a 5th grader at JCDS. She has served on the Parent Association Board and is an avid community volunteer and board member with a variety of other organizations. Pat and her husband Vincent enjoy quality time spent cheering at their boy’s I-9 football, soccer and basketball games.

Member at Large: Rebecca Schwam

Rebecca Schwam joined the board in 2006. She is currently serving as Chair of the Marketing Committee. She and her husband, Brian, have two daughters, a 2009 JCDS Graduate, and a 5th grader currently at JCDS. She has had the opportunity to work with many non-profit organizations in the Jacksonville community since moving here with her family in 1998. In her spare time, Rebecca enjoys tennis, exploring new places and spending time with her husband Brian, their children and friends.

Member at Large: Everette M. Seay IV

Committee: Finance
Everette Seay joined the board in 2007 and currently serves on the Finance Committee. He has also served on the Compensation and Benefits and Marketing Committees and been the Treasurer of the Parents’ Association and a Class Agent. His wife, Kristen, is an alumna of JCDS (1989). He has a son, who is in third grade and a daughter, who is in JK. He is a former member of the United States Army, multi-lingual, and an avid golfer. He enjoys coaching his children’s teams, fishing, and traveling.

Member at Large: Michael Shumer, D.V.M.

Committees: Executive and Development (Chair)
Mike Shumer joined the board in 2007 and serves on the Development Committee. Mike proudly graduated from ninth grade at JCDS in 1980. He is CEO of Medical Life, Inc. and Crucial Care. He enjoys contributing to his community and myriad outdoor activities. The center of his world consists of his wife, Tammy, and his sons a 4th grader and 1st grader at JCDS.

Member at Large: Lara Siewert

Committees - Executive and Committee on Trustees (Chair)
Lara Siewert has been a board member since 2004 and is serving as Chair of the Committee on Trustees. She has three children – Morgan (2005 JCDS graduate), Kendall (2007 JCDS graduate) and Evan (2010 JCDS graduate) and is married to Derek. She spends much of her time volunteering for school and other charities and enjoys reading, traveling, and entertaining.

Member at Large: Dennis M. Smith, Jr. M.D.

Committee: Development
Dennis Smith joined the board in 2006 and currently serves on the Development Committee. He has also has been the Chairman of the Capital Campaign. He and his wife, Julie, have a daughter, who graduated from JCDS in 2008 and is now a freshman at The Bolles School. He currently sits on the boards of directors of two molecular diagnostics companies, Clarient, Inc. and RedPath Integrated Pathology, Inc. Dennis enjoys fishing, fine wine, and creative writing.

Member at Large: Bill Steitz

Committees: Executive and Buildings & Grounds (Chair)
Bill Steitz joined the board in 2007 and serves as Chair of the Building and Grounds Committee. He is married to Pamela who is President of the Parents Association (2010-11). They have three children; a graduate JCDS and who currently attends Episcopal, and a 6th and 3rd grader both attending JCDS. Bill is the President of Sauer Holdings Inc. a General Contracting Company. He enjoys family activities, golf, and skiing.

Member at Large: Regina Alberini Young

Committee: Compensation and Benefits
Regina Alberini Young joined the Board in 2010 and serves on the Compensation and Benefits Committee. Regi practiced labor and employment law for 20 years, and she recently retired from Rogers Towers, P.A. to spend more time with her family. Regi and her husband, Mark, have two boys; the elder a graduate of JCDS and now a student at The Bolles School; and their youngest, a 4th grader at JCDS. Regi also serves on the Board of Directors for The Hubbard House, most recently as President of that Board.

Honorary Member : Patricia S. Blanchard

Committee: Buildings & Grounds
Pat Blanchard began on the Board of JCDS as the president of the Parent’s Association in 1995. After that allotted 1 year term, she was invited to “officially” join the Board. Pat’s two sons—JCDS graduates Donald, III (now 30) and Darron (now 22)—started in the JK4 program. Pat served as corresponding secretary plus co-chaired the capital campaign with Bill Bond for the Fourth Grade Wing. After 10 years, Pat was voted the school’s first Honorary Board member; she continues to serve JCDS on the Buildings & Grounds Committee. Pat’s passion is “gardening”, having been instrumental in planning & planting much of the campus landscaping.
