From the President
Welcome to Jacksonville Country Day School from the Parents' Association! We have been busy planning and implementing activities since early June and are looking forward to a year filled with excitement, education, and lots of fun.
JCDS is well known for its Parents' Association, which is made exceptional by the many parents who volunteer their time and effort. Last year, the Parents' Association raised over $130,000 and, in addition, we continued to promote a strong family and learning environment at JCDS. With your support, we can make this year equally successful.
There are several ways that you can volunteer:
- You can participate in our PEP program. PEP stands for Parents Encouraging Pupils and is our volunteer program that is recognized throughout the state. This program provides many opportunities for direct involvement in your child's education.
- You can also volunteer for various fundraising, educational and social events that the Parents' Association sponsors throughout the year such as Art Enrichment, Eye Screening and the Lunchroom Committee. Our Annual Auction/Gala is our largest fundraising event. We hope you will join us for a special Gala Evening on March 14, 2009!
- We hope you will attend our family-oriented events during the year such as the Family Picnic, Family Nights and the Book Fair. We will also hold our 2nd Boosterthon Fun Run this November which will emphasize character education through fitness and fun. In April, we will honor our wonderful faculty and staff with our Teacher/Staff Appreciation days.
All parents are members of the Parents' Association, and we hope you take the opportunity to volunteer your time and attend the events. This is a great way to become familiar with your child’s school, meet their friends and other parents.
I look forward to welcoming you to our first general meeting. We wish you and your children a memorable and successful school year. See you soon!
