The 2011-2012 school year culminated today with an awards ceremony honoring students in grades one through five. Awards included Florida Math League, Spanish, and honor roll (academic merit, high honors, and headmaster’s list), all of which celebrated academic achievement. Awards were also given for participation in extracurricular programs such as Student Council, Chess Club, Jazzy J’s, Chorus, Dance, Art Sharks, and the Third Grade Character Crew.
In addition to certificates marking their achievements, students received recognition and applause from their peers and parents, as well as the faculty and staff.
The awards were announced by associate head of school Louise Morrow and handed out by head of school Terry Bartow. Mr. Bartow congratulated the students on a “great year” of learning and character development and said, “the world will be a better place” as they go out into it.
The ceremony ended with first graders, who all graduated from the “Seven Habits of Healthy Kids” program, singing a song called “Read a Book.”
