Fourth Graders Write History

Fourth graders in Judy Stoner’s social studies class recently made “historical documents.” The documents were letters written from the perspective of people living through different historical periods in the state of Florida, such as the Civil War and the age of tourism.

After the students wrote these eyewitness letters from the historical characters, the letters were “distressed” with different colored inks to make them look historical. The project blended history with language arts and included creative, artistic elements.
