Grades 4 - 6
The curriculum at the intermediate elementary school level is a continuation of the strong academic program introduced in the primary grades. The emphasis on higher level thinking skills incorporated with the core disciplines of reading, language arts, and mathematics prepares these pre-adolescent students for their middle school years and beyond.
Social studies include geography, Florida history, American history, and ancient civilizations. Students participate in projects, interactive activities, and lively discussions.
The science curriculum surpasses state standards, and students benefit from a state-of-the-art science lab with a SmartBoard presentation system.
A high caliber, certified faculty who are aware of the social and emotional needs of the intermediate students plan and work closely to teach to the various learning styles of their students. The development of study skills and organizational skills are emphasized at this level.
Novel studies and short stories present students with the opportunity to explore several different genres, various authors, and develop skills for interpreting a variety of literature.
Students in 4th and 5th grades have access to laptop computers and 6th grade students are issued their own personal laptop computers for use during the school year.
Intermediate students continue to benefit from our resource curriculum and after school enrichment opportunities.
